للمرة الأولى منذ عام 2011، أزهرت وردة أخذت اسمها من رائحتها الآسنة في كلية “دارتماوث” في ولاية نيو هامبشر بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية.
وقد أسميت “مورفي” أو ” الزهرة الجثة” وبدأت تتفتح يوم الجمعة في دفيئة العلوم لكلية ” إيفي ليغ”.

ويبلغ طولها سبعة أقدام ونصف القدم ومن المتوقع أن تكون قد ذبلت يوم الأحد ،أما موطنها الأصلي فهو غابات سومطرة الإستوائية، وتبدو بساق مدببة طويلة وغطاء يشبه التنورة.

وقالت مديرة دفيئة دارموث “كيم ديلونغ” بأن رائحتها وصفت كمزيج بين حيوان متفسخ والبول ، وأردفت بأنها ستلقح الزهرة المهددة بالانقراص، لتشارك العالم بلقاحها وبذورها.
